L.A. Mayor Garcetti on Running For President and Favorite Jazz Pianists

Is eric garcetti running for president in 2020?

The rumors are flying all around Mayor Eric Garcetti who has been playing coy about whether or not he's running for president.

And of course, since all politicians love volunteering their time to reporters to talk about whatever may be going through their mind at any one time, the L.A. Times thought now would be a good time to try and pin the mayor down whether or not we may be seeing his Mayoral Yoga Pants be tailored into presidential yoga pants in 2020.

Garcetti, recently returning from his trip to Iowa, sat down with the newspaper to talk about his political aspirations and whether or not he's actually running for president. Of course, Garcetti doesn't actually answer the question of whether or not he's running. But he says in the interview that he believes he would be good at the job.

Look, I've worked closely with presidents, especially with President Obama, and I realized that what good leaders do at the national level is no different than what we do at the local level. Leadership is leadership, producing results is producing results.

The interview with Garcetti attempts to paint him as just another normal, everyday Agenelino, including one throwaway section at the tail end of the interview that's a campy "He's just like us!" segment. The interviewer dips into the mayor's hobby asking him as an accomplished jazz pianist who his favorite acts were.

Keith Jarrett. Oscar Peterson. Those are my first two, by far. Ahmad Jamal, probably the other one.
