Dodgers to Hold Pups at the Park Promotion

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - More than 600 dogs are expected for tonight's Los Angeles Dodgers-Arizona Diamondbacks game for the annual Pups at the Park promotion at Dodger Stadium.

Pups at the Park also includes pregame pup activities and a pup parade starting at 5 p.m.

Tickets allowing fans to bring their dogs to the game have sold out, but other tickets remain available.

A portion of the proceeds from the tickets sold through the Pups at the Park promotion will be donated to Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation.

U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Mayra Garcia will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. Garcia enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2002 and has served two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan.

Garcia was released from active duty in 2006, but was recalled and mobilized in support of the contingency operation to Marine Central Command. She later joined the Active Reserve Program and was instrumental in transforming more than 600 recruits into United States Marines.

Garcia is currently a battalion administration chief for the 23rd Marine Regiment, whose headquarters are in Pasadena.
