Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones says an investigation is under way after a sheriff's patrol vehicle struck a protester and drove away Saturday night.
Jones said he isn't even sure if the deputy realized he clipped someone because he may have been focused on protesters who had surrounded his vehicle. Jones released dashcam video from two patrol vehicles on the scene. The video showed a group of what he called professional protesters and instigators surrounding the vehicles. He said that group was not part of larger protests that evening. People had taken to the streets to protest the police shooting of an unarmed black man.
