Video: Moments Before Self-Driving Uber Killed Woman in Arizona

Video of the first self- driving car crash that killed a pedestrian has been released.

The dash cam footage shows that the autonomous Uber car didn't slow down as it hit and killed a 49-year-old woman.

The incident has raised questions as to why the car didn't stop when a person was detected to be in its path.

The video shows two sides of the incident, footage from outside the car as Elaine Herzberg is hit and footage on the inside showing the operator looking at something in the car and not the road.

Uber says the operators in the cars are "safety drivers", meaning they can intervene and take control, but generally let the vehicles run on its own.

The cars are meant to detect obstacles, people and cars via radar sensors but the company says they are unsure what exactly happened in this case.
