UPDATE: Los Alamitos Votes to Opt Out of Sanctuary City Law

Following up on our story and interview yesterday with Los Alamitos Mayor Pro Tem Warren Kusumoto – the City Council of Los Alamitos in Orange County voted 4-1 in favor of exempting themselves from the sanctuary city laws.

The vote followed more than two hours of testimony from both sides of the issue. Kusumoto maintains that the vote and issue was never about immigration.

“This council is looking out for the constituents in our city,” Kusumoto said.

Mayor Troy Edgar expects that his city will set a trend for other Mayors to adopt “As the mayor of Los Alamitos, we are not a sanctuary city.”
