Antonio Villaraigosa has always claimed to be a man of the people, to have come from humble roots, and promised to fight for low-income families and people of color. That is a lovely narrative to come from a man who has served on the board of pyramid scheme Herbalife as well as taken contributions from payday lenders.
Not only did he work for Herbalife when his tenure as the Mayor of LA was over, he took hundreds of thousands of dollars from them in his political career.
Heading into the June primary, Herbalife and its employees have donated $38, 650 to Villar.
