The California parents accused of torturing their imprisoned children are now facing three new charges. David and Louise Turpin were hit with three additional child abuse charges in a Riverside courtroom yesterday. In addition, Louise was charged with felony assault and David is facing one count of a lewd act on a child under 14. A spokesman for the District Attorney's Office says the new allegations came as a result of the ongoing investigation.
The pair were both already charged with 12 counts each of torture and false imprisonment, six counts of child abuse and seven of cruelty to a dependent child. They're due back in court in ten days and a preliminary hearing has been set for May 14th.
