At least five people are dead following a fiery big rig crash on the 10 Freeway in Rialto. Authorities say the westbound truck smashed through the center divider at Riverside Avenue, hitting several vehicles and bursting into flames. Both sides of the freeway were shut down until reopening Saturday morning.
A CHP officer says that westbound lanes might be reopened late this afternoon, but it could be late tonight before eastbound lanes are restored. A second Sigalert was issued for a later westbound crash in Redlands, compounding the problem for afternoon commuters.
