White House Staff Secretary Submits Resignation After Abuse Allegations

White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter has resigned after claims of domestic abuse surfaced. The Daily Mail reported that he physically and mentally abused two of his ex-wives Jennifer Willoughby, and Colbie Holderness.

Porter denied the claims in a statement announcing his resignation.

These outrageous allegations are simply false. I took the photos given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described. I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said he will not leave immediately to help ensure a smooth transition. She said that Porter chose to resign on his own and was not pressured into the move.
