After nothing but up for years, California's solar industry is down. A new annual survey shows solar jobs fell by more than 13-percent last year and solar installations dropped 19-percent. The Solar Foundation blames a combination of last year's wetter and longer-than-usual winter and a reduction in the compensation solar homeowners receive for sending extra electricity to the grid.
A solar lobbying group warns of further shrinkage this year because of President Trump's decision to impose tariffs on cheap, imported solar panels, which could drive up consumer costs.
