Police Say Killer Took Victim's Remains in Suitcase on Train

A suspected killer dismembered his victim and carried the body parts in a suitcase on the Metro Goldline to a Home Depot parking lot where he set the remains on fire, authorities said Monday.

Police say officers responded to reports of a burning body last week, where arson and homicide detectives were summoned to the scene. A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, but police have not released the identity of the suspect.

Coroner's officials have not been able to identify the burned remains, or even if the person was a man or a woman. Officials say they believe the victim was chopped up, and transported within the suitcase to the Home Depot in the Cypress Park section of  Los Angeles.

Investigators say they were able to trace the man's movements from where the body was found, to a crime scene at a shuttered restaurant several miles away in Pasadena. Footage showed the man using a large rolling suitcase, and bringing it with him on a commuter train.
