Neil Diamond Announces Retirement After Parkinson's Diagnosis

Neil Diamond has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and announced his retirement from concert touring.

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that can cause tremors and slowness of movement among other issues.

The singer was planning a tour through Australia and New Zealand in March as part of his 50th anniversary tour, but those have since been cancelled.

“I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years.

My sincerest apologies to everyone who purchased tickets and were planning to come to the upcoming shows.”

Diamond says he plans to continue to write and record music, regardless.

“My thanks goes out to my loyal and devoted audiences around the world. You will always have my appreciation for your support and encouragement."
