The mother of the 13 siblings found tortured is perplexed investigators showed up to her home in Riverside County. Louise Turpin and her husband are both being held behind bars on nine million dollars apiece, after their 13 biological kids ranging in age between two and 29, were found malnourished and some even chained to beds in dark, filthy rooms.
Investigators say when they arrived at the home Turpin seemed confused as to why they were called in the first place. A 17-year old girl managed to escape the deplorable conditions Sunday and call 911. Officials have not said if the family believes in a religion or belongs to a cult.
