The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that President Donald Trump's lawyer paid a porn star $130,000 to ensure her silence before the 2016 election.
The Journal's report alleges that Trump lawyer Michael Cohen paid 38-year-old Stephanie Clifford, who goes by the name Stormy Daniels in adult films, to stay quiet about her consensual sexual encounter with Trump in July 2006. Clifford, then 26, met the now president at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.
The WSJ report goes on to point out its previous reporting on the subject, in which they say Clifford had been considering an interview on Good Morning America around the time the payment was allegedly made.
"President Trump once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels," Cohen said in a statement.
Cohen also released a statement purported to be from Clifford that read in part: "Rumors that I have received hush money from Donald Trump are completely false." The note was signed by Stormy Daniels.
