L.A. Metro System Offering Free Trains and Buses For New Year's Eve

If you're looking to go out and toast the New Year by getting toasted, there are several ways for you to avoid driving under the influence and receiving a (very expensive DUI).

L.A.'s metro system will be running free buses and trains from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve, and the gates to the subway system will remain open.

Of course, you could always go old school and hail a taxi, or just make sure you download and install the Uber or Lyft apps. Triple A is also offering their annual deal to tow your car home if you're too drunk to drive as part of their annual 'Holiday Safe Ride Program.' If you need a safe ride home, call 1-800-AAA-HELP.

Of course, the best way to avoid that DUI? Have a party at home and ring in the New Year by watching a live-stream of the ball drop from home.

The California Highway Patrol is also reminding people that smoking weed and driving high also counts as being under the influence.
