Dillers Want To Fund Hollywood Gondola Project

Los Angeles March Heat Wave Shatters Records

Entertainment mogul Barry Diller and his wife Diane von Furstenberg are considering a plan to fund construction of a gondola that will transport tourists to the Hollywood Sign.  "Variety" reports the project is being led by von Furstenberg's son and would cost between 25- and 30-million dollars to build.

The project would carry tourists from the parking lot of the Los Angeles Zoo up to Mount Lee, where the iconic sign sits.  In order to become a reality, the project would have to be approved by L.A. City Councilman David Ryu, who represents Hollywood.  It would also have to undergo an environmental impact report.
