Cheech Marin Helps Spread News About Legal Pot in California

The man who launched a career as one-half of the most famous stoner comedy duos in history, is helping to spread the word about what the first steps a new marijuana business needs to do before they start selling legal weed on Jan. 1st.

Cheech Marin, of Cheech and Chong fame, recorded a public service announcement for the California Secretary of State's office to help encourage weedpreneurs to register on the secretary of state's new website Cannabizfile.sos.ca.gov.

State law governing legal weed requires all businesses that will sell cannabis to register with the secretary of state's office Cannbizfile. The agency's website allows users to search for names of businesses, locations and hours.

With so many new businesses that are preparing for the green rush, Secretary of State Alex Padilla told the Sacramento Bee that Marin was the perfect person to help spread the word.

Marin joked that the PSA would also help him knock a few hours off some community service he had yet to serve.

Recreational marijuana will become legal in California beginning Jan. 1st.
