Lobbyist Accuses Assemblyman of Sexual Assault

A lobbyist in Sacramento says an Assemblyman from Los Angeles sexually assaulted her in a bathroom according to a story in the L.A. Times

In a letter to the Assembly Rules Committee dated today, Pamela Lopez say Northern Los Angeles County based Assemblyman Matt Dababneh, made the move during a gathering of lawmakers and lobbyists in January 2016. Lopez says she was afraid to go public because the allegations may make it hard for her to make a living.

According to Lopez, Dababneh followed her into a bathroom, masturbated in front of her, and urged her to touch him.

"The weight of that body was pushing me into the restroom. I heard the door slam behind me," Lopez said. "I spun around and by the time I had gotten myself spun around, I saw that I was facing Matt Dababneh and he had unzipped his pants and exposed himself and had begun to masturbate."

Dababneh has strongly denied the accusation.

Lopez says Dababneh's lawyer has tried to silence her by threatening to sue.
