13-Year-Old Yucaipa Girl Killed Herself After Years of Bullying

A 13-year-old Yucaipa girl who attempted to take her own life last week has died family members said.

Rosalie Avila, an eighth grader at Mesa View Middle School, was taken off life support on Friday after she was found hanging in her bedroom, after years of being bullied family members told KNSD

In a note, Avila wrote that she had been bullied over her appearance for years. The night she was found, the family rushed Avila to the Loma Linda Hospital in critical condition. The teen documented the names of those who were bullying her in a journal she kept.

The family decided to remove the 13-year-old from life support after she was declared brain dead on Friday.

“She’s loved by so many people and by her family. She was daddy’s girl and mommy’s princess. She wanted to be a lawyer and wanted to help the world to be a better place. The world lost a treasure,” a post on GoFundMe set up for Avila said.

Rosalie's family is asking that other now help put a stop to bullying.
