Metro Looking to Hire More Women

Metro is looking for more women to join their workforce.

As new transportation projects are funded all over L.A. County, LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn told KFI's Kris Ankarlo, it's a good opportunity for women to get a good-paying job.

"We have the money to begin building these transportation projects all over LA County. So this is the perfect time for women to have the same opportunities as men do, to have these good-paying jobs."

Work on several transportation projects conceived as part of Measure M have begun across the county. Metro officials say women make up only about one percent of the construction industry in L.A. County.

The job fair was at Long Beach City college where several companies were on hand to recruit new women workers. Interested applicants can find more information at www.metro.net/about/wbmla
