13 Years For Kidnap of Murdered Stepsister’s Kids

A judge in Downtown L.A. sentenced a woman to 13-years in prison Wednesday for abducting the children of her murdered stepsister.

Brittney Sue Humphrey, 23, pleaded no contest to kidnapping charges in July.

She and her boyfriend, Joshua Robertson, 28, were charged with murdering Kimberly Harvill, whose body was found on a remote road between Castaic and Gorman in August, 2016.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says Robertson and Humphrey fled the state with the 2, 3, and 5 year old children, who were found abandoned at a motel in New Mexico.

The couple was arrested in Colorado a day later.

Prosecutors have also charged a second man with killing Harvill.

Alex Valdez, 29, is expected to be tried with Robertson.

Both face the special circumstance allegation of ‘lying in wait,’ that, if found true, could lead to a death sentence.
