A Texas woman found an unexpected sea creature washed ashore in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
Preeti Desai says she was walking on the beach when she came across a large fanged sea creature and asked Twitter what it was.
"It was completely unexpected, it's not something that you'd typically see on a beach. I thought it could be something from the deep sea that might have washed on to shore."
A professor at the University of Washington and the School of Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences, Adam Summers responded with an answer.
The creature is a fangtooth snake-eel and according to another scientist, Ben Frable, the fish lives in shallow water and can wash up on shore even without a major storm like Harvey.
Smithsonian biologist and eel specialist Dr Kenneth Tighe also says the creature was likely an Aplatophis chauliodus, a fangtooth snake-eel or "tusky" eel.
