7,200-Acre Blaze Now Fully Contained

The La Tuna Fire that once threatened hundreds of homes and blackened almost 7,200 acres is now fully contained.  Firefighters remain at the Verdugo Mountains just in case any sparks flare up.  The blaze that erupted September 1st near La Tuna Canyon Road eventually destroyed five homes and five outbuildings.  It also forced several residents to evacuate their homes.

The firefighting operation also caused a full closure of the 210 Foothill Freeway in the Sunland-Tujunga areas.  The cause of the La Tuna Fire remains under investigation.
