The Navy Has Taken Over the Port of L.A.

Los Angeles is rolling out the blue carpet for ships and crews arriving for Fleet Week. L.A. City Councilman Joe Busciano says it's a great opportunity to show off the L.A. waterfront and give thanks to those who protect our shores every day.

"We have an opportunity to express our thanks and our gratitude for everything that the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines do for us every single day. Specifically in today's political climate and today's security climate."

A welcome party will kick off the festivities Wednesday night in San Pedro. Fleet Week runs through Labor Day. Four U.S. Navy warships are in port. They've been joined by one Royal Canadian Warship, as well as a Coast Guard Cutter in port for the week.
