Before And After Video Shows Extent Of Historic Flooding In Houston

For information on how you can help those affected by Hurricane Harvey, head over to the official website for the American Red Cross or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Hurricane Harvey, now downgraded to a tropical storm, dumped a historic amount of rain on Houston, Texas. Houston and the surrounding suburbs got between 45 and 50 inches of rain with more still expected as Harvey moves east towards Louisiana. While the worst is over, Houston will be dealing with the catastrophic flooding for years to come.

A video put together by the New York Times shows how bad the flooding really is. Using photos from Google Maps, the video shows what areas of Houston looked like in 2016 and 2017 compared to how they look today. Areas that you would expect to be safe from rising water are completely submerged. The video shows how much work will need to be done in Houston once the flood waters recede.
