Texas Nursing Home Residents Rescued After Waiting in Several Feet of Water

Hurricane Harvey has left destruction and death in its wake and hundreds of people are left waiting for rescue.

A photo of the residents of a Texas nursing home has made the social media rounds as they sit waiting in chest deep water.

Kim McIntosh's mother owns the La Bella Vita nursing home and was the one who took the photo.

“My mom sent it to me at 9 this morning. She said it was a disaster. They [were] waiting for helicopters or the National Guard. Most of these people are in wheelchairs and [on] oxygen,”

The Galveston Office of Emergency Management confirmed the residents from the facility have since been rescued.

Galveston County commissioner Ken Clark says between 20-25 people were rescued from the nursing home.
