Administrators at UC Irvine are working to try and find a man they say attempted to kidnap a woman on Tuesday. A woman was walking on campus near the Arroyo Vista Housing Community when a man pulled up to the student and asked if she needed a ride.
"She told him no, she did not. The male suspect then told the student he had a gun, but the female refused to get in the vehicle and the male suspect drove off," UC Irvine spokesman Tom Vastich told KFI's Kris Ankarlo.
The student says the suspect was driving in an older blue Toyota Rav 4. Vastich says UC Irvine is currently in summer session with about 10,000 students on campus.
"UCI police department actually has established a safety escort program that's available to anyone on campus," Vastich said.
