Central California man shot and killed after confronting pot growers

A property owner in Central California was killed after he confronted men who were growing marijuana on his rural property.

The 47-year-old Timothy Fadgen was killed in a confrontation after he confronted the men about the illegal grow on the edge of his property. Police say they're searching for three men who fled in a green or blue minivan. A description of the suspects were not available.

Madera County Sheriff's Lt. Zack Zamudio said that investigators have not determined how many pot plants were growing on the land.

Tensions between residents and marijuana growers in rural California communities are rising as people complain that pot is attracting crime to their neighborhood.
