Trump Rancho Palos Verdes Golf Course Groundskeepers Shooting at Gophers

In a moment that would make Bill Murray's character in Caddyshack proud, a groundskeeper at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes shot at gophers with a rifle.

Pictures were released of the man who was ushered around in a golf cart as he took aim at various points on the course.

It's not made totally clear what precautions were taken, what ammunition was used or whether this sort of action was necessary against the gopher.

The city of Rancho Palos Verdes prohibits the use of firing weapons inside the city limit; the code says it is illegal for anyone to discharge any “gun, revolver, pistol, firearm, spring gun, air gun, sling or slingshot.”

Former communications director and current member of the Rolling Hills Country Club Kerry Walsh says he was surprised to hear a gun was used as a means of pest control.

“They will trap them, they’ll use poison and things, but I’ve never heard of anybody using a rifle on a golf course.”
