'Star Wars' Virtual Reality Experience Coming to Downtown Disney

It's about to get real in Downtown Disney.

Disney is teaming up with a location-based virtual reality startup named The Void to bring a 'Star Wars'- themed multiplayer virtual reality experience to Disneyland resorts in Southern California and Orlando, Florida.

'Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire' will bring people inside the world of 'Star Wars' adventures starting later this year. Produced by ILMxLab, Lucasfilm's immersive entertainment division in cooperation with The Void, the startup wants to bring Virtual Reality environments out of people's living rooms and into something much grander.

The Void has already debuted their tech with a "Ghost Busters" VR experience at Madame Tussauds in New York City last year. They have locations in cities across the world including Toronto, Dubai, and Lindon, Utah where their corporate headquarters are located.

The VR experience center at Downtown Disney in Anaheim and Disney Springs in Florida will be the latest locations announced by the company.
