Tupac's Break Up Letter to Madonna Goes to Auction

A letter released this week by the late rapper Tupac Shakur to pop singer Madonna breaking off their relationship is hitting the auction block.

In 2015, Madonna says she dated Tupac shortly before he died but never revealed why they split up.

TMZ got a hold of the letter and the reason is revealed.

In the letter, written during Tupac's nine month stint in prison for sexual abuse, he apologizes for not being a good friend to Madonna.

However, he also says their break up needed to happen as he took issue with what he assumed her reasons were for being with him.

He says people would see her as being "open and exciting" for being "seen with a black man" but the same wouldn't be seen for him.

“But for me…I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

Tupac went on to say he wanted a "stronger and more focused" friendship with her and he "never mean to hurt" her.

Madonna has yet to comment on the letter.

It is set to be auctioned off at the Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction from July 19-28.
