Video: Woman Falls From Six Flags Ride

Matthew Howard Sr. was with his family leaving a New York amusement park when he saw something amiss on one of the rides.

He looked up to see a young woman, dangling 25 feet off the ground from a slow moving gondola ride at the Sky Ride at Six Flags Great Escape Amusement Park,

What appeared to be her little brother was next to her crying hysterically, saying he didn't think he'd be able to hold on to her.

Howard, along with his 21-year-old daughter Leann Winchell, moved themselves under the 14-year-old girl as the ride came to a stop.

“I said: ‘It’s ‘OK! It’s OK to let go, I’ll catch you, honey.'”

A crowd gathered, with some filming the scene and others are calling for help.

The girl eventually lost her grip and fell where Howard, Winchell and other good Samaritans were waiting with their arms outstretched.

The two took on the most from her fall, they fell over after she hit them.

Howard was treated and released for a minor back injury afterwards.

“I couldn’t let that little girl die. No one wants to put himself underneath a body like that, but I couldn’t stand by and watch.”

The Warren County Sheriff's Office says says she is in stable condition and had no serious injuries.

Officials inspected the ride and said it appeared to be in working order.

“There does not appear to be any malfunction of the ride, but we have closed the attraction until a thorough review can be completed.”
