Woman's headache caused by spider living inside her ear

A 49-year-old woman in India was rushed to the hospital after complaining of having a tingling pain in her right ear which turned into an excruciating headache. Doctors at the Columbia Asia Hospital were horrified when they found a live spider crawling around Lekshmi L's eardrum.

The doctors poured a liquid medicine in her ear and lured the spider out using a flashlight. The creepy encounter was filmed and posted to YouTube.

Dr. Santosh Shivaswamy, a consultant ENT specialist at Columbia Hospital said:

“It is common to see emergency room visits due to the presence a foreign object in the ear, and it takes a simple procedure to remove the object. However, when a living insect makes its way inside a human ear, the patient’s anxiety makes it difficult to continue the procedure."

The doctors say there was no damage to the woman's ear.
