Jimmy Kimmel responds to reaction on his health care speech

Jimmy Kimmel reacted and ‘apologized’ on his show last night after he received various reactions after he discussed his newborn son’s health issues and asked for health care to remain for those with ‘pre-existing conditions.’

The clip from his show was posted on YouTube and has already accumulated around 10 million views.

Kimmel gave his thanks to those who sent their support to his family and also brought up those who criticized his speech. He showed the audience and viewers a few examples of what he had received over the past week.

One of the negative comments he received was, ‘Jimmy Kimmel’s obscene lies about kids and medical care.’

“I cannot count the number of times I’ve been called an ‘out of touch Hollywood elitist creep’ this week, which I have to say I kind of appreciate because when I was a kid, we had to drink the powdered milk because we couldn’t afford the liquid. Our orange juice came frozen out of a can. It would squeeze out,” Kimmel said on his show.

Kimmel ‘apologized’ to the critics and those who condoned his speech and said, “I would like to apologize for saying that children in America should have health care. It was insensitive. It was offensive, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

Kimmel then 'called out' Newt Gingrich and continued to say that with new the health care bill, children are not covered.

"So now the health care bill moves from the House to the Senate, where hopefully some kind of common sense will prevail," Kimmel said.
