An FBI translator ditched her role and job after traveling to Syria in 2014 to marry the ISIS operative she was assigned to watch.
According to federal court documents, Daniela Greene lied to the FBI about her whereabouts and warned her husband that he was under investigation. The terrorist, identified as Denis Cupert, was formerly a German rapper, but joined the terror group as an online recruiter.
Greene returned to the United States weeks after marrying him and was arrested. She was released from jail last summer after spending to years for making false statements involving international terrorism.
The situation is an embarrassment for the FBI, which has made pursuing ISIS terrorists a primary focus.
