Hit and run survivor speaks out from the hospital

Penny Casbon was the victim of a terrifying hit and run caught on film in Van Nuys.

Casbon is now speaking out from her hospital bed about her recovery and her hope that the driver will be caught. She told KTLA that she was on her way to Bible Study when a white van ran her over while she was in a crosswalk.  She does not remember much else about the day besides briefly waking up in an ambulance.

“I have an aortic stent, I have a broken hip joint — the left hip joint is broken — and I have a fractured neck and back,” she said.

Casbon is still in the hospital after 2 weeks with severe bruising and several broken bones.

Police are still searching for driver and van, which they say may be a Dodge Caravan which probably has front-end damage.

LAPD said the department is offering a $5,000 reward in the case.
