Man gets violent after card is declined while trying to buy candy

The Santa Ana police released this surveillance video showing a man assaulting 7-Eleven employees.

The incident occurred at the 7-Eleven on First St. in Santa Ana on February 11th but after hitting a wall in the search, the police are asking for the public's help.

He tried to purchase a bag of almond M&Ms with his credit/debit card but became furious when it was declined. The man caused around $700 worth of damage to the store; he also assaulted the cashier and another employee on his way out of the store.

"Based on his actions over a 75 cent-bag of M&M's, I’m not sure what his reaction would be to something that’s really serious,” Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said about the man.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the case is encouraged to call Investigator Laura Delisle at 714- 245-8647 or email ldelisle@santa-ana.org.
