San Pedro H.S. Baseball Player Brutally Beaten

15-year-old Evan Jimenez, a baseball player for San Pedro High, was walking home from a friend's house last Thursday night around 10pm when encountered two men in an alley at 2nd and Bandini in San Pedro.

According to investigators, the men, believed to be gang members, beat Evan with bottles, choked him and left him for dead.  The attack left Evan unrecognizable.

Someone found Evan in the alley, put him in their car and drove him to Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital, and left without leaving any information.

Evan was transferred to County Harbor UCLA Medical Center near Carson where he remains in intensive care.

His family, baseball coach and friends say they don't understand why anyone would do this to Evan.|

San Pedro High School baseball coach, Steve Tedesco told the Daily Breeze:

"He's a great kid with an infectious personality.  We liked his baseball talent and his character. He works extremely hard at the game and in the classroom.  We're all praying for him."

There is a GoFundMe page set up to assist with medical expenses.
