The LAPD has recorded a LOT of body camera videos

A new report from the LA police commission says that more than 1 million videos have already been created by officers wearing body cameras in Los Angeles.

The $59 million body camera program has deployed more than 2,700 cameras ever since the program began last June. Officials say they plan on equipping more than 7,000 officers with cameras by the end of this year. Cameras are manually turned on by officers, but, they want to see if it's possible to automate that process.

Officials say they hope the body cameras will cut down on officer complaints and foster a sense of trust being the public and the department.
