Motorist surrenders in LA hit-and-run that killed boy, 5

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles authorities say a motorist suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a 5-year-old boy has surrendered to police.

Officials say 19-year-old Homer Watford walked into a police station Wednesday and admitted he was the driver who fled the scene a day earlier.

Investigators say 5-year-old Ronald O'Neal died at a hospital after being struck by an SUV on a residential street near South LA.

Watford was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.

Watford's 20-year-old passenger also provided a statement to police but was not arrested.
