California's property tax burden 10th worst in nation

Proposition 13 passed by voters in 1978 has kept property taxes pretty low in California with basically a cap of 1% of the property value. That's the 17th lowest in the nation.

But when the OC Reg ran those numbers through a spreadsheet and included the average home value in California (which is the third highest in the country) and the average household income (which is 10th highest) they found California is the 10th worst state for property taxes in the Country.

Oh, AND don't forget - property taxes are due April 10th.
