2-year-old boy dies in hot car outside of day care center

2-year-old Jacob Manchego died yesterday after his half-sister left him in a hot car outside of the Florida day care center where she worked.

Jacob was left in the car for over 5 hours with the windows rolled up, the engine off, and the door shut.

Larry McKinnon, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said:

“What we understand is that about 9 o’clock this morning, a relative parked here in the parking lot and in the interim, left a two-year-old boy inside the vehicle, locked, without the engine running, and without the air conditioning."

The half-sister, 21-year-old Fiorella Silva-Tello, was apparently "distraught" and "upset" after finding the boy in the car when she went on her break.

She took his unconscious body to a nearby dialysis center where the employees tried to administer help until the fire fighters arrived.

Sadly, it was too late.

How do things like this happen?!  Not only was this her half-brother, her job is to take care of other people's children!

Awful, just awful.
