Oscar sensation 'Gary from Chicago' is an attempted rapist

During the Oscars, host Jimmy Kimmel brought in a group of unsuspecting tourists into the Dolby Theater and surprised them with the chance to mingle with the Hollywood elite.

One of the tourists Gary Alan Coe, also known as 'Gary from Chicago,' went viral for going up and chatting with multiple celebrities.

Well, it turns out that Gary had just been released from prison 3 days before the Oscars, where he served a 22-year sentence for multiple felony charges.

Gary is a registered sex offender and had been charged with attempted rape back in the 90s.

It looks like his release was triggered in 2013 because of the changes to California's three-strikes law.

Talking about his time in prison, Gary said:

"Change is possible.  It's a sad day to be in prison for 20 years and not be able to be a dad, granddad to your children. You know what my son told me today, man, and I almost come to tears. He said he's proud of me. So to hear your children say that they're proud of me means the world to me."

Isn't it a little ironic that Hollywood paraded an attempted rapist around all of the stars?  Sure, the producers probably knew nothing about Gary's past, but how did they happen to end up with a registered sex offender?

It's like the crappy stars aligned, or something.
