Every year we're treated with the pomp and circumstance that is Groundhog Day.
Out at Gobblers Knob, they drag Punxsutawney Phil out of his hole and put their ear up to his mouth and wait for him to reveal if he saw his shadow or not so we can find out if we're in for six more weeks of winter or an early spring.
Well, this morning, Phil says he SAW his shadow and therefore we're in for six more weeks of winter.
But wait just a second! Staten Island Chuck (otherwise known as Chuck G. Hogg) is calling B.S. on Punxsutawney Phil. (FYI, this is a NEW Staten Island Chuck because New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio killed the other one three years ago after dropping him on Groundhog Day)
Staten Island Chuck, who locals say is "the most accurate groundhog prognosticator" because he's been right 80% of the time says different, says he did NOT see his shadow, so break out the shorts folks, because spring is coming early! (To compare, Punxsutawney Phil, according to experts, has been right approximately 65% of the time.)
