Posters with suicide hotlines may have to go up in gun shops in Los Angeles

Posters with the numbers for suicide hotlines may have to go up in gun shops around Los Angeles if Councilman Paul Koretz's bill is passed.

Koretz says his bill is not about imposing new regulations on gun owners.

"Instead it would make sure that individuals who may be contemplating ending their lives using a firearms know that they always have someone to talk to."

A supporter of the bill, Margaret Caruso with Women Against Gun Violence told KFI's Kris Ankarlo that a friend of hers used a gun to end her life. "She bought a gun specifically to commit suicide."

The bill could take months to get through the city council committees and become law.
