NEWPORT BEACH (CNS) - A Huntington Beach police helicopter crash-landed tonight at Newport Beach Harbor.
The crash occurred at 6:34 p.m., a Newport Beach Fire Department dispatcher told City News Service.
The Huntington Beach Police Department posted tweet at 7:20 p.m., saying, “We can confirm that our police helicopter, HB1, crash landed in the Newport Beach area. Rescue efforts are underway & more information will be released when available.”
The status of the pilot or any passengers was not officially available. NBC4 reported Newport Beach firefighters were working to rescue someone trapped inside. The station also showed a picture of the helicopter wreckage in water at the shoreline.
CBS2 reported the two people on board were rescued and taken to a hospital.
