HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - The teen mystery “Outer Banks'' was the most-watched streamed program in the first full week its second season was available, according to figures released today by Nielsen.
Viewers watched 2.1 billion minutes of the 20 episodes of ”Outer Banks'' between Aug. 2-8, including its 10-episode second season which was released by Netflix July 30. Viewership was up 47.6% from the 1.423 billion minutes watched the previous week, when it finished second.
The previous week's leader, The CW high school football drama “All American,'' was second with 1.157 billion minutes watched of its 51 episodes, the week's other program to top the 1 billion minutes mark.
Viewership dropped 19.3% from the 1.433 billion minutes watched the previous week, which included the first six days its 19-episode third season was available on Netflix.
“Chicago Med'' was the only program in the latest top 10 that was not in the previous week's, finishing eighth, with viewers watching 544 million minutes of the 100 episodes of the NBC medical drama which started streaming on Netflix July 22.
The CW superhero series “The Flash'' dropped out of the top 10 after finishing ninth the previous week, which included the first five days its 18-episode seventh season was available on Netflix.
All 10 programs in the top 10 stream on Netflix. Nielsen also announces streaming viewership of Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Hulu programming.
The top 10 consisted of seven programs that originally aired on U.S. broadcast or cable networks, two original streaming series, and “CoComelon,'' which originated on YouTube.
The top 10 programs were “Outer Banks''; “All American''; “The Walking Dead''; “CoComelon''; “Grey's Anatomy''; “Criminal Minds''; “Virgin River''; “Chicago Med''; “NCIS'' and “Manifest.''
The figures only reflect television set-related viewing, including such television-connected devices as Roku and Apple TV. Mobile-only viewing is not included in Nielsen's streaming measurement systems.
