Southland Gas Prices Rise Again

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 12th consecutive day and 28th time in the past 29 days, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $3.468, its highest amount since March 11.

The average price has risen 23.7 cents over the past 29 days, including 1.4 cents on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents more than one week ago and 23.6 cents higher than one month ago, but 11.9 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price inched up one-tenth of a cent to $3.453, its highest amount since March 9 and the 26th consecutive increase. It is 7.2 cents more than one week ago and 24.5 cents higher than a month ago, but 8.3 cents less than one year ago.

The rising prices are the result of some refinery trouble, the impending switch to summer-blend gasoline and the lifting of the state's stay- at-home orders that increased demand, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
