One of the greatest and most cherished Christmas songs of all time is, 'Baby It's Cold Outside.' The song was first introduced in the film, “Neptune’s Daughter" in 1949 and became an instant hit.

Since the showing of the film all those years ago, the song remains to live in the hearts of many. In addition, music artists have been inspired to create their own spin on the iconic song. Most of these renditions pay homage to the original. However, not all renditions are as classic as the original and some even mock the lyrics. One of these popular parodies was posted on YouTube in 2018. If you're familiar with the song, then you'll sure get a kick out of this parody!

This year, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson released a brand new rendition of 'Baby It's Cold Outside' for Legend’s Christmas album, "A Legendary Christmas: The Deluxe Edition." Although the song is a classic, In recent years, critics have hinted that the original song hints at date rape. The original writer's daughter stated, "It’s a song my father wrote for him and my mother to sing at parties." It's evident that the message of the song was not intended to offend women in any way. But the daughter stated she understood why women today might take offense to the original lyrics. Legend and Clarkson have transformed the song in favor of the #MeToo movement. They replaced several of the original words with less offensive lyrics. For example, Clarkson sings, "What will my friends think if I have one more drink?” before Legend sings, "It’s your body and your choice." Interestingly, the song has received more criticism than support. Some enjoy the new and improved lyrics and others think it's too political. What do you think?
