On August 16th 1994 IBM released ‘Simon’…A chunky, black box that became the world’s first smartphone.
Weighing in at 500g (1.1lb), the Simon only had an hour's battery but it boasted such features as a calendar; it could take notes and send emails and messages and combined all of this with a cell phone.
